David Midgley
David Midgley is a philosopher, meditation teacher and spiritual and environmental activist.
He holds a B.Phil. degree in Philosophy from the University of Oxford, a Certificate in Education for Sustainability from Schumacher College, and a Certificate in Advanced Buddhist Studies from Jamyang Buddhist Centre London.
He is a certified CCT (Compassion Cultivation Training) instructor, a Registered Meditation Teacher with FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Buddhist Tradition), and a Distinguished Fellow of the Schumacher Institute. He has taught Buddhism and meditation for 30 years and is currently undergoing training in Trauma Healing and Global Social Witnessing.
He was co-founder with his mother, the philosopher Mary Midgley, of the Gaia Network; founder and Programme Director of Schumacher North; founder and co-chair of Zero Carbon Yorkshire; and co-founder and CEO of the Kinder Leeds Compassion Festival.
He is currently Convenor of Project Regeneration UK, working to transition the UK from an extractive, planet-damaging industrial economy to a regenerative, nature- and human-friendly economy.
