Dr Oliver Thomson PhD

Dr Oliver Thomson is a practising osteopath and Associate Professor at the University College of Osteopathy, London, where he is the Doctoral Programme Leader. Oliver completed his PhD in osteopathy at the University of Brighton, Clinical Research Centre for Health Professions, where he explored the clinical decision reasoning of osteopaths in the UK. His research interests include: evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making and reasoning, professional identity, practitioner and patients back pain beliefs, the biopsychosocial model and qualitative research and he has published over 30 peer-reviewed research papers in these areas. He supervises undergraduate, MSc and doctoral students and has examined PhD students internationally. He regularly holds lectures, seminars and workshops on his research and clinical interests to health and manual therapy professionals.
