Brexit has created much debate around a wide range of issues. At work this has included the future presence of EU nationals in our organisation. James Bevan and Clare Moriarty have both expressed their initial support to EU nationals working for the Defra group and have asked all colleagues to help each other at this time of uncertainty.

The EU Citizens' Network, set up by a small group of volunteers, is a new addition to our employee networks and forums. The Network primary purpose is to provide a point of reference for members to share information and guidance on a number of themes related to the exit of the UK from the EU, and manage the risk to engagement and wellbeing in the EU national community. The network is open to all employees within the Defra group but aimed in particular at EU Nationals, their relatives and/or friends seeking support or advice as a result of the process of the UK preparing to leave the EU. We have nearly 150 members who receive our bi-monthly newsletter.

The network has a SharePoint site to provide a dedicated information point on the exit of the UK from the EU, an opportunity to raise questions or share experiences. The Network also facilitates the provision of peer support in the EU nationals community. It is a great opportunity to showcase the contribution that a diverse workforce brings to our environmental endeavours.
