Glasgow Gifford Bequest Committee

This series of lectures is one of the Glasgow Gifford Lectures on 'Natural Theology' at the University of Glasgow

The Gifford Lectures are an annual series of lectures which were established by the will of Adam Lord Gifford, as a means to "promote and diffuse the study of 'natural theology' in the widest sense of the term".

The original endowment glossed natural theology in very broad terms as "The Knowledge of God, the Infinite, the All, the First and Only Cause, the One and the Sole Substance, the Sole Being, the Sole Reality, and the Sole Existence, the Knowledge of His Nature and Attributes, the Knowledge of the Relations which men and the whole universe bear to Him, the Knowledge of the Nature and Foundation of Ethics or Morals, and of all Obligations and Duties thence arising".

The endowment supports lecture series at the universities of Glasgow, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and St Andrews.  Some of the notable earlier lectures at Glasgow can found on Wikipedia.
