GSAP is a member-led committee of building services, housing and construction businesses supported by Government agencies, charities and training providers across the UK. GSAP exists to encourage, improve and develop sustainable training, development and education opportunities for the housing, construction, engineering and manufacturing industries. Our purpose is to close the skills gap and provide entry routes into green careers. Our ambition is to educate the current and future workforce adapting to emerging technologies, consider the environmental impact and how industry can meet net zero targets.

GSAP will:

Influence the UK’s approach to sustainable education and skills
Create line of sight of green job opportunities across the construction, engineering and manufacturing workforce
Provide reskill and upskill initiatives for individuals to meet industry needs
Co-design curriculum with industry professionals
Create innovative resources that will be available to all
Actively engage with schools, colleges and the community to raise awareness of the Green Skills Agenda
Create a positive impact across the UK through supported aligned initiatives and promotion of our work
Listen and react to our GSAP community throughout the UK

Pillar 1

Awareness and Outreach Initiatives

Raise awareness about the importance of green skills and the opportunities available.
Engage with communities, schools, and career advisors to promote green careers and encourage individuals to pursue education and training in related fields.
Provide information, advice and guidance about available resources, funding and support programmes to help individuals overcome barriers to learning.

Pillar 2

Partnerships and Collaboration

Foster collaboration among government agencies, educational sector, industry associations, non-profit organisations, and other stakeholders to address the green skills gap collectively.
Establish partnerships with employers to identify skill gaps, develop training programs, and create pathways for job placement and career progression.
Leverage public-private partnerships to invest in workforce development initiatives, including funding for programmes and training facilities aimed at advancing green technologies and practices.

Pillar 3

Education and Training Programs

Develop comprehensive education and training programs specifically designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge for green industries and sustainable practices.
Collaborate with the FE Colleges and ITPs, industry partners, and government agencies to create curriculum frameworks that incorporate environmental sustainability, renewable energy, green technology, and other relevant subjects.
Offer practical training opportunities, such as internships, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training, to provide hands-on experience and ensure alignment with industry needs.
