Hinterlands Arts Events and Activities - Enfield
Hinterlands is an ongoing artistic residency project created by the Canal & River Trust to explore and enhance the cultural, social, and environmental value of the River Lea for the communities of Upper Edmonton. This project is strategically placed at a unique intersection of historical significance and future potential. The area’s industrial heritage spans over 200 years, while its future is tied to the evolving cityscape marked by significant developments like the Meridian Water regeneration project. Our residency space, housed in a modified shipping container by BLOQS, serves as a creative nucleus where artists, community members, and environmental activists converge to foster a sustainable and culturally enriched local ecosystem. This initiative is supported by a network of partners including Enfield Council, the EnCaf, Arts Council England, and the Festival of Industry, all working together to empower the community through education, engagement, and environmental stewardship.
