Impact Muslim Network
The Impact Muslim Network is a safe space for Muslims and non-Muslims alike to professionally develop and network with peers/colleagues.
The network will champion the importance of having Muslim representation at all levels in local government. The Muslim population in the UK is over 6%, with some local authorities having a higher proportion than others. In order for the needs of Muslim communities in the UK to be met, it is important to have representation at all levels of government, with local representation being pivotal.
Our objectives are:
- to build an inclusive community bringing together Muslims on the Impact graduate scheme from a variety of cohorts, as well as non-Muslims to create an inclusive environment and foster open dialogue
- to connect Impact graduates with senior Muslims in local government, providing professional development opportunities, helping to navigate careers whilst complementing local government work with our faith values
- to raise awareness about welfare issues facing both Muslim employees in local government and wider Muslim communities in the UK
