Jersey Biodiversity Centre

We are a small environmental charity, working to collate biodiversity data for Jersey, Channel Islands, and make it available for environmental decision making and research.

Biological records are vitally important as they underpin conservation decision making and policy in Jersey.

The Jersey Biodiversity Centre’s primary purpose is to collate this data, which is collected by a diverse range of amateur and professional biological recorders, in to a central database where it can be managed, made available, and mobilised, primarily for the purpose of safeguarding the Island’s natural environment for future generations.

Through the application of innovative use of technology and science, the JBC works to harness the enthusiasm and knowledge of Jersey’s biological recording community and improve how data is collected, collated, managed and shared.

The Jersey Biodiversity Centre works in close partnership with amateur and professional biological recorders and biological recording groups to promote biological recording and citizen science monitoring schemes and to provide training, support and tools to assist with the collection and submission of biological records to the Jersey Biodiversity Centre database.

The Jersey Biodiversity Centre database provides researchers and environmental decision makers with a centralised database of high-quality biodiversity data for Jersey.
