Leslie Grant
Leslie Grant is an Expressive Arts Facilitator. Being creative has been a continuous thread throughout her life. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design (R.I.S.D.) in Providence, RI and received her Expressive Arts Facilitation Certificate from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. She loves art and creativity and believes that the mind, body, and spirit are connected, both individually and collectively.
When she was a teenager, she would draw, write poetry, sew her clothes and style them her way, tie-dye, design jewelry and in general, have a blast “making.” Using her mind, hands, and intuition to create was her joy. But when life took a turn, for decades she struggled to keep her fingers grasping onto the ledge of the cliff. She was in full survival mode. Looking back from the other side, Leslie realized that it was when she was creating or teaching others to create, that she was calm and happy. For years, those experiences were her respite and sanctuary; a thread to hold onto that tethered her to her true self even as she was incrementally losing parts of herself.
In response to her lived experience, both negative and positive, Leslie came to believe that becoming one’s authentic self is a life priority. Now she shares the science backed, transformative work of creating expressive art with others. Her workshops use the underlying themes of mindfulness, gratitude, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. The programs facilitate the exploration of self through drawing, painting, collage, clay, stitching, mending, wearable art, and movement. Her aim is to help others to create intuitive “art” with the intention to heal and unite with their true self.
