Nelson Mandela Scottish Memorial Foundation
The NMSMF (or Mandela Scottish Memorial for short) is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation - Charity number SC047067.
It was established in December 2016 in the belief that Nelson Mandela's life and legacy can teach important lessons now and long into the future, and that Scotland's part in his struggle for freedom, human rights and racial harmony - not least Glasgow's role as the first city in the world to grant him its Freedom in 1981 while he was still imprisoned - is an important part of our heritage. Erecting the statue is one important early objective, for which very substantial funds are required, and this will provide a focus for educational work at all stages.
