PAC-UK Special Guardianship Support Service
The Special Guardianship Support Service, operated by PAC-UK, is dedicated to providing comprehensive support, information, and guidance to special guardians across the UK. Special guardianship offers children who cannot live with their birth parents a sense of stability by placing them with trusted caregivers. Special guardians often face unique challenges, including managing birth family contact and supporting children with complex needs.
The PAC-UK Special Guardianship Support Service aims to address these challenges by improving outcomes for children living with special guardians and offering accessible, trusted support to guardians.
Services Offered:
- Online Support Groups: Eight free online support groups per year for special guardians, fostering peer support and shared experiences.
- Training Workshops: Four free online training workshops annually—two for special guardians and two for professionals—to equip attendees with relevant skills and knowledge.
- Library: A dedicated website offering up-to-date information, guidance, downloadable resources, and referrals to additional support services.
- Advice Lines: Specialist advice lines staffed by qualified PAC-UK counselors, providing confidential assistance on all aspects of special guardianship, including education-related concerns.
These services are available to special guardians and professionals in areas where local authorities have subscribed to the service.
