St Luke's Hospice Plymouth
Elmer’s been to Plymouth, and he brought some new friends… For 10 weeks this summer a parade of 40 fabulously colourful, unique elephants took people on a trail around the beautiful city of Plymouth and surrounding areas. From the hustle and bustle of the city streets to the peace and grandeur of the Hoe, Elmer’s Big Parade navigated its way around Britain’s Ocean City.
St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth worked in partnership with Wild in Art and Andersen Press to bring this mass participation, family friendly, art trail to life; featuring the much beloved children’s character of Elmer, by Devon born artist and author David McKee.
Each sculpture featured a unique design created by some of our amazing local and national artists, both well-known and emerging. This was fantastic opportunity to explore all the city has to offer whilst being enchanted, inspired and amazed by the sculptures themselves.
At the end of the summer each of the beautifully designed Elmers will be auctioned to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, to enable us to continue to provide our outstanding compassionate care.
