Flavio de Brito
Flavio de Brito studied Modern Dance at the University of Curitiba (Brazil) for four years and was an active member of the Palavracao Drama Company. He joined the Centro de Danca Latina Walmir Secchi School in 1999 as a full time teacher and dancer of Argentinian Tango and Brazilian dances. At the age of eighteen, the performance of his first significant choreography won a prize at the Curitiba Dance Festival. Flavio brought his natural and modern dance style and teaching skills to the UK in 2002.
He choreographs first dances for weddings and routines for professional dancers. He is also an established teacher, guest teacher and performer at many events, such as Salsa, Jive and Tango weekends. Flavio is an active member of the local community and regularly performs at charity events. He attended private master classes in Buenos Aires with star performers from the renowned Tango Fire Company. He has also attended private dance seminars with Gustavo Naveira and Giselle Anne and Claudio Gonzalez.
Flavio specialises in the production, choreography and performance of dance shows and music videos including musicals with CAOS, The Boyfriend, Guys and Dolls, Hello Dolly and Carmen, George Bizet/Prosper Merimee by Kent Chamber Opera. He also performed in the West End for a guest performance at The Shaftesbury Theatre, the Venezuelan Embassy and at the Argentine Ambassador’s Residence.
He choreographed and performed a show with the world famous Tango Band, Otros Aires, at the Chichester Festival Theatre, and has recently been featured dancing his own choreography in Roger Taylor’s (from Queen) latest music video release Journey’s End, and Zingaro Blue band "Argentina" and "Drummer Boy".
With one of his dance partners, Richard John Moore, Flavio won the 2021 UK Ambassador’s Tango Cup. He regularly performs with individuals and groups from the school at competitions and events across the South, and teaches in Portsmouth, Guildford and Chichester, ensuring his classes are friendly, fun and inspiring.
