A Creativity and Wellbeing Week Sandpit with artist Solomon Adams

Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2025

Creativity and Wellbeing Week (19-25th May 2025) is a partnership between London Arts and Health and the Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance.

About the sesssion In this interactive digital sandpit, creative facilitator and youth mentor Solomon Adams will explore how music can be a transformative tool for young people navigating complex life experiences — from alternative provisions to justice-affected and community wellbeing contexts. Drawing from lived experience, Solomon will share insights into the power of freestyle, beat-making, and songwriting as vehicles for emotional expression, identity formation, and resilience-building. The session will include a live creative activity using a simple online music-making tool, alongside space for reflection and dialogue on the impact of music in our daily lives.Together, we’ll explore:<ul><li>The power of freestyling</li><li>Incorporating mindful and conscious creation into our practices</li><li>A practical framework for engaging young people with compassion, creativity and care</li></ul>This session is ideal for young people and practitioners working in arts, health, education, or youth support settings who want to explore music as a pathway to empowerment and healing. About Creativity and Wellbeing Week<a href="https://creativityandwellbeing.org.uk/" title="https://creativityandwellbeing.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Creativity and Wellbeing Week</a> (19-25th May 2025) is a partnership between <a href="https://www.lahf.org.uk/" title="https://www.lahf.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">London Arts and Health</a> and the <a href="https://www.culturehealthandwellbeing.org.uk/" title="https://www.culturehealthandwellbeing.org.uk/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Culture, Health &amp; Wellbeing Alliance</a>.Now in its 14th year, the week is an opportunity for thousands of creatives and arts and cultural organisations to showcase the amazing, wide-ranging work they are doing to support health and wellbeing around the UK and beyond – whether in hospitals, museums, theatres, residential care, galleries, community centres, heritage sites, libraries, or people’s homes.This year, our theme is ‘New Horizons in Creative Health’. We aim to engage with a wide range of grass-roots community organisations, practitioners, and participants across the country to understand their approach to and experience of Creative Health practices while asking key questions about the challenges of sustaining this work.As the crises in individual, communal, and planetary health deepen, we are compelled to act in imaginative, radical ways to ensure our survival. Creative Health helps us to thrive as individuals and communities, but it is also an act of resistance.About the artistSolomon Adams is a multi-hyphenate creative, mentor, and community leader with a deep commitment to empowering underheard communities through the transformative power of the arts. As a music producer, DJ, spoken word artist, and facilitator, Solomon’s work spans across various creative mediums, including music, poetry, theatre, dance and performance. He leverages these platforms to support personal growth, emotional resilience, and social cohesion, particularly within at-risk youth populations.Solomon is the co-founder of Movement Makers, a youth empowerment organisation that cultivates leadership, creativity, and personal development in young people facing financial or cultural barriers. Through initiatives such as Mandem's Quarters, a men’s circle for those navigating life challenges and aiming for personal growth, he creates safe spaces for reflection, healing, and creative expression. Solomon is also leading the creation of a life skills curriculum that integrates Hip Hop principles, promoting social cohesion and emotional intelligence in young people from underheard communities. He aims to empower young people through the arts, offering them opportunities to gain skills, earn qualifications, and grow as leaders in their communities.Currently, Solomon is based at West Youth Zone, where he serves as the Employability Coordinator. In this role, he supports young people in gaining the skills and experience necessary to pursue successful careers and business ventures, while also guiding them through the challenges of entering the workforce.Solomon believes in the power of creative expression to bridge divides, build overstanding, and create spaces for personal and collective transformation.
