EurOcean is the European Centre for Information on Marine Science and Technology. EurOcean is an independent, non-profit, scientific organization that aims to support European Marine Science and Technology advances, by fostering cooperation and information exchange among its stakeholders.EurOcean is an information broker. It seeks, collects, analyses, enhances and disseminates data, information and knowledge that is relevant and beneficial for its members, the ocean community and society at large. EurOcean expertise includes communication, dissemination and exploitation on all fields of ocean science.In the past two decades, EurOcean has been involved in numerous European initiatives aiming at bringing together all stakeholders towards a more sustainable society, leading the way in the implementation of Responsible Research and Innovation to marine and maritime matters.

Join us in Brussels to celebrate the life and vision of one of the pioneers of the Ocean, Professor Mário Ruivo.
A Scientist, a politician, and an advocate for Ocean issues, Prof. Ruivo spent his life striving for better appreciation and use of our Ocean heritage. He was a proponent of the United National Convention on the Law of the Sea, Secretary of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and a scientific advisor to Expo 98.
During this one-day event we will remember the life and times of Prof. Mário Ruivo with stories and accounts from the people who knew him best; we will revisit his vision for the Ocean and evaluate our progress so far; we will also provide hands-on interactive experiences related with the Ocean and marine innovation.
Come and experience some of the enthusiasm and awe that Prof. Mário Ruivo felt for the Ocean and celebrate his legacy.
