The Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund to support start-up and existing sustainable technology and low carbon businesses.The project will establish and scale-up over 130 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) over the next three years within the low carbon and sustainable technology fields.The aim is to help these businesses grow, innovate and establish lasting research partnerships with the University of Bath, generating economic growth in the region and delivering on the Government’s Industry Strategy.www.stbah.org

Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub

The Circular Economy is a framework for an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design.  Many organisations are recognising that they need to adopt the transition towards a circular economy. 
The <A HREF="https://www.stbah.org/" TARGET="_blank" TITLE="Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sustainable Technologies Business Acceleration Hub </A>are running a series of events with the aim to stimulate a regional conversation about how we can achieve the 3 principles of a sustainable economy bringing the voices of academics, funders, innovators, SMEs and corporates to the debate.
If you are an SME or start-up interested in design that enables product reuse and recycling; new materials, designed-to-last products or consideration of by-products and waste then this event is for you! 
You may have a product or service in one of these areas or may simply be curious about how you get your business ‘in shape’ to contribute to a sustainable economy?
There will be keynote talks, followed by flash presentations from SMEs innovating in new design, and then a panel discussion, rounded off with the opportunity to network and also to sign up to receive fully funded support for your business through the STBAH programme.
The events will tackle each of the 3 key principles of sustainable (circular) economy.

Get to know your speakers:
Professor Tim Ibell, University of Bath:
After graduating, Tim spent two years in industry before completing postdoctoral research at the University of Cambridge. He joined the Department of Architecture &amp; Civil Engineering at the University of Bath in 1997. In 2002, Tim spent a year in the United States on a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award.
He was promoted to Professor in 2003 and held the role of Head of Department from 2005 to 2008, and again from 2010 to 2013. Tim was Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) from 2008 to 2013 followed by Associate Dean (Research) from 2013 to 2017. After a year at Cambridge as the Sir Kirby Laing Professor of Civil Engienering, he returned to Bath in 2018.
Tim was President of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2015, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He and his team have received six best journal-paper awards, including three each from the <A HREF="https://web.archive.org/web/20170224164211/https://www.istructe.org/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Institution of Structural Engineers</A> and <A HREF="https://web.archive.org/web/20170224164211/https://www.ice.org.uk/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Institution of Civil Engineers</A>.
Tim's research interests include the use of FRP to reinforce or strengthen concrete structures, the use of fabric to form innovative concrete structures, and the efficient use of structural materials in buildings. He is happy to supervise PhD students in any of these fields.
Jamie O'Hara, Strategic Innovation Ltd: 
Jamie has been working with companies to enhance their sustainability performance and positive social impacts through sustainable product innovation for 12 years. His focus is in supporting the implementation of eco-innovation and eco-design in industrial practice. This includes capacity building at a national or company level and the development of methodologies, training, tools that companies need to embed sustainability into the development of their products and services.
HigherSteaks: Early stage Bristol startup whose aim is to produce the highest quality sustainable meat. Using state-of-the-art cell culture techniques, a small sample of cells from an animal will be expanded by feeding these cells a rich and animal free growth media. When these cells have grown they can then use different methods in order to form the desired meat product. 
Adaptavate: An award winning company that is focussed on developing and commercialising material solutions that disrupt the conventional construction industry. Adaptavate produce construction products that outperform conventional products, whilst being good for people and planet.  They are currently developing the next generation of bio composite materials that can be grown, composted and used to make buildings energy efficient and healthy. Apatavate believe in a future where materials are made from crop waste, perform better in our buildings, and will compost at the end of their life, so there is no waste!
Qualis Flow: Are creating smarter cities. Their environmental management platform can holistically track, monitor, and predict project environmental risk.  Qualis Flow allows projects to have complete oversight of their environmental performance in real-time.
