Royal National Institute of Blind People Save Time on Event Administration with Eventbrite

With over 10 million people in the UK having a disability, you are likely to come into contact with a disabled person on a daily basis. The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) well-known for supporting people with sight loss and Eventbrite has helped RNIB offer courses to anyone who wishes to improve their understanding and gain confidence in helping those with a disability.

We chatted to Andy Smith, Accessibility Trainer at RNIB to find out more about this important institute and why Eventbrite was the RNIB’s ticketing provider of choice.

Tell us about your event? Who is it aimed at?

The RNIB courses are suitable for anyone who wants to learn more and help support people with disabilities. We offer two courses for external clients:

Visual Awareness Training provides an understanding of what it means to live with sight loss and various types of sight conditions. We look at how to best engage and use correct etiquette and language to avoid offence and discrimination. Attendees leave the course feeling more able to confidently assist people with sight loss.

Pan Disability Awareness Training allows attendees to gain an understanding and appreciation of various types of disability. We explain how to recognise, assess and minimise the barriers that people with a disability face in their daily lives.

Why did you move your ticketing over to Eventbrite?

We initially looked to manage the ticketing ourselves but realised how time consuming and expensive this would be. We were looking for a simple way for customers to book themselves onto our courses. After some research we decided Eventbrite offered everything we were looking for, from advertising and managing bookings, to handling payments & analysing our customer database.

This means we are able to focus on what we do best, delivering quality training. With no upfront fee, this was an easy choice.

What challenge has it helped you solve?

Taking payments, being able to update course details quickly and easily and having the ability to link RNIB’s social streams and website to our Eventbrite page has really helped us manage our event efficiently.

What are your future plans?

RNIB are looking to be the number one training provider for visual and disability awareness. Using Eventbrite has certainly helped raise our profile and we are now looking to run courses on a regular basis.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to new event organisers starting up an event on Eventbrite?

I would recommend contacting the support team if you need guidance on the initial set up. The service I received was outstanding; my adviser was patient, attentive and helped me get my courses live in no time at all.
