Janet is a Mindfulness Teacher// Yoga Teacher // Yoga Therapist. She has been practicing Mindfulness and Yoga for over 20 years and encourages Mindfulness as a way of life in all her Teachings. She began Teaching Mindfulness around 7 years ago when she realised that many people were seeking mindfulness and meditation practices without the physical element included in a Yoga class. Yoga is a school of Mindfulness just like Tai chi, Zen, Buddhism, MBSR, Sufism and so on. Mindfulness has different Schools of practice just like music or art.Janet’s practice of mindfulness and meditation is unconventional but it is sincere, authentic and lifelong for over 20 years.Janet has a BA (Hons) PsychologyShe became a qualified Yoga Teacher in 2001 and has since completed advanced Teacher Training practices as recently as 2016 with Lisa Peterson Living yoga.She has also trained with Donna Farhi.She is currently (2022) training with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, co founder of Body-Mind Centering approach to Movement and Consciousness (1973). Donna and Lisa are also from this lineage.Between 2011 and 2014 she studied advanced meditation practices, The Kriyas, Prana Vidya and Karma Yoga with Swami Vibhooti Saraswati. She studied Prana Vidya (2016) again with Swami Gyana Dharma in Mandala Yoga Ashram and in 2017 She studied Antar Mouna meditation with Swami Krishna Prem at Mandala Yoga Ashram. She has practiced these meditations for years and understands the difficulties of practicing meditation for beginners.Youth Mindfulness Kids Programme 8 – 12 years (2017) Youth Mindfulness Soma Programme Teenagers (2019)Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness (2020) with David TreleavenJanet has been offering 4 and 6-week Mindfulness and Meditation courses for 7 years also workshops, Mindfulness Meet –ups and Retreats. She has plenty of Mindfulness Teaching experience with SEH&SCT for Staff Health and Well Being, Carers in the community and Foster carers.Plus Primary and Secondary Schools.6 week Mindfulness Courses delivered for Co Down Rural Community Network and courses on Pain Management.Also Teaching to people from all walks of life.Covid-19Janet’s recent study into Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness (TSM) is particularly beneficial as we all face the Trauma of these challenging transformative times.TSM helps those undergoing current or past Trauma in their lives practice mindfulness safely. Offering useful information, modifications and new ways of practicing safety, resilience, body scans, self-compassion and belonging.
