About this event

There are many points of intersection between storytelling and acting, and it can be argued that storytellers incorporate many acting skills in their practice. What do you consider to be the significant difference between acting and storytelling?

Bio - Michael Harvey

I tell stories from the world’s oral traditions to all ages. My repertoire is based in Wales and the other Celtic countries but I can’t resist a good story, wherever it’s from. I work in community settings, in schools, in theatres, festivals, libraries, village halls, pubs, museums and galleries. I train storytellers and those who want to become storytellers and I train teachers to use storytelling as a powerful tool for literacy and second language acquisition. My work is rooted in Wales but I find myself working throughout the UK and frequently in festivals abroad and in collaboration with other European artists.

Bio - Dr Alastair K. Daniel

Dr Alastair K. Daniel is a performance storyteller, independent scholar and consultant in storytelling (and related fields) working in the UK and abroad (most recently in Morocco, Greece and Belgium). A former drama teacher, Alastair spent twelve years touring schools as a storyteller in the UK and the Low Countries before entering academia in 2010 where, as part of his work, he promoted classroom storytelling in teacher education courses. In the summer of 2022, Alastair ended his term as Principal Lecturer in Primary English at the University of Roehampton to focus on storytelling once more.
