The Guildhall, with its magnificent clock, is not just the most decorative building in our historic High Street, it has been the centre of civic life in Guildford for centuries. On these tours, we will look at its origins as the Merchant's Hall, its use as a court and as a place to welcome royal visitors. We will also look at some of the civic treasures given to Guildford by prominent citizens over the centuries, including the 17th century clock.
Meet at the Guildhall.
Note: There is a short flight of steps from street level to the ground floor of the Guildhall and also a flight of stairs up to the first-floor council chamber. There is no lift.
