Dr. Juan-Carlos Martin has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from “Universidad Complutense de Madrid” where he studied Heterogenous Catalysis, Materials and Adsorbents. He currently works at bp as the green hydrogen R&D global leader. He has over 26 years of experience in research and development in the fields of Emission control technologies, heterogeneous catalysis, hydrogen and Oil and Gas, in Venezuela, Spain and UK. He has presented at more than 30 international conferences and has published more than 20 papers in top Materials journals; he has received multiple awards for his work such as “The Engineer Collaborate to Innovate Awards, 2017”.

Dr. Martin's lecture will cover the following topics:

· Green hydrogen production

· Electrolyser technology overview (PEM, AWE, AEM, SOEC)

· Importance of Materials in green hydrogen production, storage, and transportation

· What is being done at bp and collaborations with academia through bp-ICAM programme

· Future directions and opportunities for materials research in green hydrogen production
