About this event

Acclaimed indie-folk quintet Patch & The Giant are a dynamic troupe of musicians who originally burst onto the London scene in 2012. Hosting, playing and promoting gigs as part of what became a 3-year residency at much-loved north London venue The Boogaloo, the band cemented themselves quickly as one of the acts at the forefront of the alt-folk movement of the 2010s.

They have since amassed a loyal following from their musical peers and a growing global fan base, having regularly toured the UK, Europe and performing at festivals including Green Man Festival, Secret Garden Party, Cambridge Folk Festival and Larmer Tree Festival, Wilderness, Deershed, BoomTown Fair, Standon Calling and many more.

Releases include ‘The Boatswain’s Refuge’ (Folkroom Record) in 2013, followed by their first full studio album, ‘All That We Had, We Stole’ (independent) in 2017, a polished and accomplished debut which showcases the band’s eclectic and alternative take on folk music, effectively harnessing elements of indie, rock and blues and fuses them with inviting story-telling, courtesy of lead singer Luke Owen’s rich and tender vocals. Add to that a unique instrumentation, built on violin, accordion, horns, cello, piano, banjo, electric guitar and mandolin, alongside acoustic guitar, bass and drums and you’ve got yourself an impressive sound ‘Tucked somewhere between the music of Balkan enthusiasts Beirut and the rustic elegance of modern DIY folk' says Folk Radio UK. Having pleasantly taken the long road, the band are emerging from a post-pandemic hiatus with their long awaited sophomore album, Fragments, due for release in May 2025.

‘Patch & The Giant have a rare degree of maturity in their work....the band's sound - patchwork yet refined - has gradually evolved to occupy its own universe.’ Clash Magazine

‘Talented and diverse, it’s eclectic stuff of the highest calibre’ FATEA Magazine

‘Forget the label of folk – this is music that will fill the soul. Their ability to make everything from a soaring sing-a-long to the softest harmony sound anthemic separates them from the crowd.’ For Folk’s Sake

‘The harmony and synergy is quite exceptional’ Halfway To Nowhere

‘The album is divine’ The National Student

'It just gets better every time' God is in the TV

We are The Nest Collective.

We bring people together to celebrate global traditions through extraordinary music. We run beautiful gatherings throughout the year, including Campfire Club, Ceilidhs, Magpie’s Nest Festival, Fire Choir, and lots more.

We’re an independent, non-profit arts organisation, and we rely on our ticket & bar income as well as a team of amazing volunteers to produce our annual programme. We embrace and encourage connection with nature, so many of our events take place outdoors in beautiful green spaces. We welcome an ever-growing community to our events in London and Brighton.
