An online briefing for education professionals introducing the Safe and Together model of multi-agency safeguarding of children.
Safe and Together is our approach for working with families affected by domestic abuse in Southampton. The approach focusses on three key principles:
- Keeping children Safe and Together with the non-offending parent
- Partnering with the non-offending parent as the default position
- Intervening with the person perpetrating abuse to reduce risk and harm to the child
The Safe and Together model of multi-agency safeguarding of children strengthens professional expertise and provides skills and concrete tools to navigate complex and challenging cases where adult survivors and child victims have been impacted by domestic abuse. It is an evidence-based approach which aims to improve professionals' confidence and outcomes for families, and strengthen our capacity to serve our community effectively. The framework enables a shared approach by all agencies and creates common language and practices, improving collaboration.
This briefing is aimed at education colleagues and aims to provide an introduction to the model, including the language and principles. We hope that this will support your work with families, particularly those who are also engaged with Southampton children’s social care service. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and to hear about the various Safe and Together training options which are available.
Training Outcomes:
- To introduce a perpetrator pattern framework
- To introduce and understand the Safe & Together Model principles and components and how these guide practice
- To introduce how to use the Safe & Together Model as a way to enhance good practice
The session will be run on microsoft teams and a link emailed to participants the day before the webinar.
