Are you involved in the recruitment of people working or volunteering with children and young people? This accredited training will help you to consider your actions and systems you need to follow to recruit properly so children and young people are safe. This training is ideal if you are from an early years setting, school or any other organisation or group. We welcome managers, interview panel members, headteachers, deputies, governors or committee members, senior managers, bursars and anyone else who is involved in the process.

We will help to:

• identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
• develop an awareness and understanding of offender behaviour
• consider policies and actions that can minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt recognition and reporting
• explore how to develop a culture of awareness and vigilance
• review your own policies and practices to make them safer

By the end of the training you will....

• be more confident in the safer recruitment process
• be able to minimise the risk of unsuitable people working with children through effective policies and actions
• be able to support your organisation's safeguarding culture

Transport links and parking

Parking - There is a council-run pay and display car park next to Phoenix. Parking costs £1 for 1hr, £3 up to 3hrs, £4 up to 4hrs, £8 for 8 hours.

On-street parking is also available around Phoenix. Please check the signs as circumstances may change and temporary restrictions may be in place.

Park and ride - Park and Ride services into Leicester city centre operate every 10 to 15 minutes, from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday. There are three sites, at Birstall, Enderby and Meynell’s Gorse: https://www.leicester.gov.uk/transport-and-streets/travelling-by-bus/park-and-ride

Customers can park for free at all three sites, and a ticket costs £3 per day per person.

Train - Leicester train station is a 10 minute walk (0.5 miles) from the Phoenix

Cancellation Policy

To cancel a place on Hempsall's open courses, notice of cancellation should be given by e-mail to bookings@hempsalls.com

For Standard course bookings:

• If you cancel at least 28 working days prior to the start of the course you will receive a full refund.
• If you cancel between 28 and 10 working days prior to the start of the course you will receive a 50% refund.
• If you cancel less than 10 working days before the event you will not be entitled to a refund.

For Early Bird bookings no refunds will be given.

Is my booking tranferrable?

If you are unable to attend the training for any reason, you may transfer your place to another person. Please contact bookings@hempsalls.com with the name of the replacement and any special dietary/access requirements.
