Reuniting the Portico Library

The Portico was opened as a library and newsroom in 1806. It was split into two in the 1920s. The ambitious project to reunite the building for the people of Manchester and beyond is supported by experimental events on the building & collections.

Delve into the ever-changing world of classical music with our curated programme of chamber works. Whether you’re a seasoned concert goer or a complete classical newcomer, our vibrant lineup has something for everyone.Programme to include Polish female composer Grażyna Bacewicz Quartet for Four Violins and selections from Black British composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Fantasiestücke for String Quartet.Introduced by Portico Trustee (and relation of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor) Esther Lisk-Carew
