Event Details

AIPPI UK is delighted to announce that Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law at the University of Cambridge Professor Lionel Bently will be speaking on the Cofemel decision at Bristows LLP.

This one is for aficionados of design and copyright law. The Cofemel case concerned the design of t-shirts and jeans sold by G-Star Raw. The CJEU recognises in its judgment (C-683/17) the dangers of a very-long copyright on the functioning of the registered design regime but, for anyone who thinks where this judgment leaves the inter-relationship between registered designs and copyright is anything less than crystal clear, AIPPI UK is delighted to welcome Professor Lionel Bently of Cambridge University to speak about the implications of this case.

Attendance is free for members and new applicants for membership.  New membership applications are welcome – please see our website www.aippi.org.uk or contact secretary@aippi.org.uk for further details (membership options are: Junior £35 (aged under 30); Junior £70 (aged under 36); Corporate: £150 (industry only); and Individual: £150.

The charge for non-members is £50.00, payable online at the time of registration.

There are a limited number of free tickets available for students in full-time education, on a first come, first served basis (proof of full time student status must be sent to secretary@aippi.org.uk before the date of the event, the absence of which may result in entry being refused).

At the time of registering, if someone else registers on your behalf (e.g.: your secretary or PA), please make sure that they book in your name so that the name of the person who is attending ends up on the attendee list.
