About this event

Whether you're battling perfectionism, procrastination, or just a deep sense of "meh", this monthly session is a gentle reset.

You'll get practical tools, two guided writing bursts, and a space where no one's judging your word count (or your camera being off).

Led by writers who have been there before, this is a low-pressure, high-compassion writing time for anyone who feels blocked or disconnected from their creative work.

What to expect:

  • A short pep talk + fresh strategies to try
  • A reflective writing prompt to figure out what’s in the way
  • A body-doubled writing sprint
  • Optional sharing + community support
  • Time to reconnect with your own voice

You don't need to be working on a project. You don't need to have written in months. You could be struggling with your play, your film, you novel.... or your PhD. Just come along with something to write with, and we'll meet you where you are.

Frequently asked questions

Who is this for?

Any writer, academic or creative who feels stuck, blocked, or a bit disconnected from their work. You don’t need to be working on a big project—or even writing regularly. This is a space to get started (or re-started) in good company.

Do I need to share my writing?

Nope! Sharing is always optional. Some people like to reflect in the chat or offer one line aloud, but there’s no pressure at all.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. You don’t need any formal writing experience—just a willingness to show up and see what happens on the page.

What should I bring?

This is an online event. Bring something to write with, something to write on, and maybe a cuppa. Cameras can be on or off—whatever helps you feel most comfortable.

How much does it cost?

Organized by

Ironclad was created in 2020 as a place for writers, artists and theatre-makers to find each other, learn about the business of making art, and develop their skills.

Founded by producer and writer couple Michelle Allen and Andrew Allen, after running the Cast Iron Theatre company for over seven years, Ironclad’s mission is to support, signpost and provide spaces where people can build community, write, make, discuss and learn.

We know how hard it is to make connections, network and learn about how to get paid for what you do.

We want to support all people and are especially interested in making sure that our work reaches people who currently have low incomes, or come from low income backgrounds.

We’re also neurodivergent and know that being creative and neurodivergent adds additional complexities and barriers to networking, making and putting your work into the world.

We have a mix of free events and some have a cost - which we try to keep as low as possible.

Members of our community - Creative Cauldron (£12 per month) get tons of our events for free - or at a 20% discount plus our own Discord server to chat to friends and peers on. Head to our website for details of how to join us! www.Ironcladcreative.org/creative-cauldron
