Celebrate Windrush Day with dominoes, sip and paint, Caribbean food and old school reggae. Free. All welcome.
On 22 June 1948, HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury Port. The men and women who stepped off that ship — and the generations who followed — helped build the communities we live in today. On National Windrush Day 2026, we are coming together to celebrate that contribution, honour those who made it, and make sure it is never forgotten.
This is for everyone. Elders and young people alike. Descendants and neighbours. Old friends and new faces.
What to expect
🎨 Sip and Paint Pick up a brush and create your own Windrush-themed canvas — guided by our artist partners. Beach, palm trees, the river, the ship. You don't need to be an artist. You just need to show up. Every guest leaves with their own painting.
🁣 Games Dominoes. Cards. Draughts. A proper tournament for those who want it and open tables for those who just want to play. Come ready. Prizes must be won!
🎵 Old School Reggae The kind of music that feels like home. The soundtrack for the evening.
🍽️ Caribbean Food Good food, shared plates, community spirit.
